Professional Audio Visual Installation for a Modern Place of Worship

Definition Audio Visual recently completed a comprehensive church audio visual installation in Driffield at Driffield Methodist Church, providing a fully integrated AV system for the church’s newly constructed worship area and adjoining meeting room.

The project was designed to enhance the worship experience by delivering clear, natural sound, high-definition visual displays and improved accessibility for the congregation. The completed installation combines professional audio, large-format display technology, HDMI distribution and hearing loop systems to create a flexible solution suitable for worship services, community events, presentations and live performances.

High-Quality Church Sound System Installation

Providing excellent speech intelligibility throughout the worship space was a key objective of the project.

To achieve consistent audio coverage, we installed four Bose 402 loudspeakers, finished in white to blend discreetly with the church interior. Two loudspeakers are positioned on either side of the main worship area, delivering balanced sound across the congregation without detracting from the appearance of the building.

The loudspeaker system is powered by a QSC stereo amplifier, securely housed within a dedicated control cupboard.

To integrate with the church’s existing equipment, inputs from the Sennheiser wireless microphone system were connected through convenient XLR wall panels, while an Allen & Heath Qu-16 digital mixer provides complete control of microphones, music and presentation audio.

The result is a reliable, professional sound system capable of delivering clear speech, live music and multimedia content for every service and event.

Large Format Display and HDMI Distribution

To improve visibility throughout the worship area, we installed two Iiyama 86-inch commercial display screens positioned either side of the stage.

The displays are connected using a professional Kramer HDMI over CAT6 distribution system, incorporating an HDMI switcher, 1-to-4 distribution amplifier and multiple CAT6 receivers to ensure reliable signal transmission throughout the building.

A dedicated HDMI input plate installed on the stage allows presenters to connect laptops quickly and easily, while a 32-inch Samsung commercial display provides a convenient preview monitor for operators.

This integrated visual system supports presentations, worship lyrics, video playback and live media with exceptional image quality.

Hearing Loop Installation

Accessibility formed an important part of the project.

To ensure visitors with hearing impairments can fully participate in services, we installed a professional Ampetronic dual-channel hearing loop system.

Two perimeter loops were installed beneath the wooden floor using flat copper tape, providing consistent hearing assistance coverage throughout the main worship area.

The hearing loop amplifier delivers audio directly to compatible hearing aids switched to the telecoil setting, ensuring clear speech for members of the congregation with hearing loss.

Meeting Room Audio Visual Installation

As part of the wider project, we also upgraded the church’s small meeting room with a dedicated audio visual system, providing improved presentation facilities and enhanced accessibility.

Hearing Loop and Speech Reinforcement

To improve accessibility, we installed a dedicated Ampetronic hearing loop system beneath the wooden floor using flat copper tape.

Two Audio-Technica AT875 ceiling microphones were installed to capture speech clearly and feed audio directly into the hearing loop system, ensuring excellent speech intelligibility for hearing aid users during meetings and small group activities.

Projection System Installation

The meeting room was equipped with an Epson projector installation , providing bright, high-quality projection directly onto the main presentation wall.

Signal distribution is achieved using a Kramer active HDMI over CAT6 transmitter and receiver, allowing presenters to connect laptops or other HDMI devices quickly while maintaining reliable high-definition video transmission.

This flexible system is ideal for presentations, Bible study groups, training sessions and community meetings.

Existing Audio Equipment Integration

To maximise value for the client, we incorporated the church’s existing Inter-M amplifier and column loudspeakers into the new installation.

The retained audio system continues to provide clear and consistent sound throughout the meeting room while integrating seamlessly with the new projection and hearing loop systems.
