Definition Audio Visual recently completed a comprehensive sound system installation at Siddal Rugby League Club in Halifax, delivering a modern and flexible audio solution throughout the clubhouse and surrounding outdoor areas. The project replaced the venue’s ageing system with a new multi-zone setup designed to provide clear, powerful sound for members, match-day spectators, and social events.
Clubhouse Bar and Suite Audio
Inside the clubhouse, the outdated speakers in both the bar and suite areas were replaced with eight Optimal Audio Cuboid 6 wall-mounted speakers.
Four speakers were installed in each room, carefully positioned to ensure even sound distribution and excellent speech clarity. This setup creates an enjoyable atmosphere for members socialising in the bar, hosting events, or watching live sport.
Balcony Outdoor Audio
To extend the audio coverage outside the clubhouse, we installed two weather-resistant Optimal Audio Cuboid 6 speakers on the newly constructed balcony. These speakers are finished in white to blend with the building exterior while providing clear and powerful sound for outdoor seating areas.
This allows music, commentary, and announcements to be heard clearly by visitors enjoying the balcony space.
Pitch-Side Announcement System
For spectators watching matches on the field, we installed two Apart Audio long-throw music horns beneath the balcony and directed them toward the pitch.
These high-output horns provide excellent long-distance sound projection, making them ideal for:
Multi-Zone Audio Control System
Behind the scenes, the old sound equipment was replaced with a modern multi-zone system built around Cloud Electronics technology.
The new equipment includes:
This configuration provides four independent audio zones, allowing the club to control sound levels separately in different areas of the venue.
For convenience, we also installed an audio input plate behind the bar, enabling staff to quickly connect phones, tablets, or other music sources.
Integration with Existing Equipment
The new system was designed to integrate with equipment already in use at the club. The previously installed Sennheiser handheld wireless microphone system was connected to the new audio setup, allowing staff to make clear announcements across any of the independent zones during match days and events.
We also reconnected the club’s Sky television receiver to the sound system, allowing audio from live sports broadcasts to be distributed throughout the venue.
A Flexible Match-Day Audio Solution
The completed installation provides Siddal Rugby Club with a powerful and flexible audio system capable of supporting:
-
Match-day announcements
-
Live sports audio from TV broadcasts
-
Music playback in bar and suite areas
-
Outdoor audio for balcony and pitch-side spectators
-
Events and social functions
With independent zone control and professional-grade equipment, the club now has a reliable sound system that enhances the match-day atmosphere and improves the overall experience for members and visitors alike.
