Audio Visual Install at Harehills Church, Leeds

We recently completed a comprehensive church audio visual install in Leeds at Harehills Baptist Church, delivering a modern AV solution designed to support worship services, live music, presentations, and community events.

The project focused on creating a clear, powerful, and accessible audio visual system, integrating professional sound reinforcement with high-definition display screens throughout the church building.

Professional Church Sound System Installation

The centre of the new sound system is the church’s existing Allen & Heath Qu-16 digital mixer, which has been seamlessly integrated into the upgraded audio system.

To improve stage connectivity and flexibility, we installed an Allen & Heath AB168 stage box, providing additional inputs and outputs for microphones, instruments, and presentation equipment.

Main Church Audio System

The main hall sound reinforcement system includes:

  • 2 × Optimal Audio Cuboid 12 speakers mounted high above the stage

  • 1 × Optimal Audio Sub 15 positioned on stage for enhanced low-frequency performance

This configuration provides powerful, full-range sound coverage for worship music, speech, and live performances.

Additional Speakers for Full Coverage

Due to the architectural layout of the building, additional speakers were installed to ensure even audio coverage across all seating areas.

These include:

  • Optimal Audio Cuboid 8 speakers used as pillar infill speakers

  • Additional Cuboid 8 speakers installed in the transept and balcony areas

  • A compact Optimal Audio Cuboid 3 installed in the creche area for local audio coverage

This ensures that speech and music remain clear and balanced throughout the entire church.

Audio Equipment and Accessibility

All amplification and signal processing equipment is securely housed within a dedicated equipment cabinet and includes:

  • Crown Audio power amplifiers

  • Four Sennheiser wireless radio microphone systems

  • Ampetronic hearing loop amplifier for accessibility

  • dbx crossover for accurate frequency management

The hearing loop system ensures the church remains accessible to visitors and members with hearing impairments.

Commercial Display Screen Installation

Alongside the new sound system, we installed a complete visual display network using high-quality commercial screens from Samsung.

Main Displays

  • 2 × Samsung 75″ commercial display screens mounted on Sanus heavy-duty wall arm brackets for the main congregation

Additional Display Screens

To ensure clear viewing across the building, additional screens were installed throughout the church:

  • 1 × Samsung 43″ preview screen facing the stage

  • 2 × Samsung 43″ pillar repeater displays

  • 1 × Samsung 43″ display in the transept

  • 1 × Samsung 43″ display on the balcony

  • 1 × Samsung 32″ display in the creche area

This distributed display system ensures that lyrics, presentations, and video content can be viewed clearly from every part of the building.

HDMI Distribution System

To distribute visual content efficiently across all displays, we installed a professional AV signal distribution system using Blustream HDMI over CAT5 technology.

The system includes:

  • Two Blustream HDMI over CAT5 distribution units

  • Individual CAT5 receivers installed discreetly behind each screen

This allows the church to send video content from a central source to multiple displays across the building while maintaining a clean and professional installation.

Camera Streaming Installation

To further enhance the church’s outreach and online engagement, we also installed a professional live streaming camera system. This includes a Datavideo PTC-285 4K PTZ camera, securely mounted on a wall bracket to provide an optimal viewing angle across the church hall.

The camera is fully integrated with a Datavideo RMC-180, allowing precise remote control of pan, tilt, and zoom functions. This enables operators to easily capture different parts of the service or event without needing to physically move the camera.

For video production and streaming, the system connects to a Blackmagic Design ATEM Mini, providing professional-grade video mixing and live streaming capabilities. This setup allows the church to switch between camera feeds, add graphics if required, and broadcast services to online audiences with ease.
